Year 1 Art and Design- Formal Elements
For my first project at the beginning of my first year I was asked to explore the basic skills in art which are formal elements. My inspiration for this project came from an artist named Robert Rauschenberg, this artist uses colour in an expressive way using a vast amount of materials to create his work. using his work as a starting point I then went onto exploring with different materials to create my own abstract artwork.
This piece is a composition made out of different materials, which was then photocopied and printed onto fabric. The original composition was made using tissue paper, fine liner, congregated card and newspaper. To transfere this image onto fabric I used image maker. My initial purpose for this sample was to include some of the formal elements, for example in this piece the formal elements are; line, texture, pattern and shape.
Here is another one of my textile samples, i have experimented more with my media as i have used other materials such as paper, wax and dye. For the design of this sample I used some of my own primary drawings of ceramic work.
This piece was one of my mine fine art compositions made from mixed medias. My main inspiration for this piece was Robert Rauschenberg as he uses a variety of different medias to create new and captivating compositions. The materials used in this piece are calico fabric, brown paper, newspaper, water colour and fine liner.
My graphic compositions where produced using the letters from the word creative, to make my compositions more interesting I used different types of font and also changed the directions of the letters. For both of these compositions the materials I used were; fine liner, acrylic paint and watercolour.
This piece was one of my fine art compositions which is a combination of my primary drawings. To create this piece I used clippings of newspaper headings, watercolour and fine liner. My initial goal for this piece was to create a composition using my primary drawings, this had to include formal elements. I think this piece was one of my most successful pieces as it includes several formal elements such as; line, pattern, texture and tone.
